Inside DNA

Inside DNA’ is coming to Dundee Science Centre on 26th October 2009! Experience this unique new exhibition which investigates developments in the fast-moving field of human genomics, and the ethical issues that they raise.

‘Inside DNA’ provides an opportunity to explore the developments of genetic science and hear from leading researchers. Designed to provoke questions and stimulate debate, ‘Inside DNA’ will encourage pupils to explore issues such as the role of our genes and the environment in our health, identity and evolution. It delves into ethical questions such as whether genetic testing will lead to discrimination, who will benefit most from genetic medicines, and the role of DNA databases.

Secondary schools can accompany a visit to see Inside DNA with one of our debate workshops, in which pupils will discuss and debate current ethical topics. Alternatively, you can book our hands-on Genes in a Bottle workshop in which pupils extract DNA and take it home in a necklace pendant!

The event launch for inside DNA will take place on Wednesday 28th October 2009 6.30-8pm and will include a champagne reception. We would really like you to join us and be the first to preview our new and exciting exhibition. Special VIP invitations are available on request subject to availability.

You can find out more about the connection between DNA and Dundee on the University of Dundee webpage.
