From 1st June to 11th October

Discover the science and magic of animation in this exciting interactive exhibition. Animated Adventures showcases many of the incredible handcrafted sets and models from Aardman and DreamWorks' feature film Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-rabbit.

Enjoy a rare, behind-the-scenes insight into how Aardman, and other featured animators, create their characters. From storyboards and set design to cel painting, stop frame and CGI technology, learn top tips from the industry and then have a go at creating your own crazy animations!

Have a go!

Make your own stop frame animation, animate an on-screen character, and have a go at cel painting and creating sound effects. Control the lighting on a Wallace and Gromit vicarage set, use touch screens to colour in a range of characters and learn how to draw Wallace and Gromit.

Visitors will be able to see the set from the film’s lavish final scene, with the backdrop of the awesome Tottington Hall, the venue of the film’s main event: the annual Giant Vegetable Competition. This was the largest set used in the film’s production and is home to a huge magical fairground.

Catch the crowd of characters in the midst of a carnival of vibrantly coloured tents, beautiful carousels and fun-filled fairground rides.

As the film’s title suggests, rabbits also feature greatly in the film - see how many you can spot in the fairground set. From prize bunnies at the hook-a-duck stall to bunny shaped balloons, they have been breeding like, well...rabbits!

But that’s not all, the exhibition includes other Aardman film sets to admire. You can take a sneak peek inside Lady Tottington’s sumptuous home, see Wallace and Gromit’s bunny-laden basement and get a closer look at Wallace’s hair-brained contraptions. You can even see how the furry buck-toothed Were-rabbit was constructed in a stage-by-stage display!

A whopping 2.7tons of plasticine was used in the production of the film, equivalent to the weight of a Land Rover, and each character gets a new pair of eyes every two months.
