STEM Ambassadors Programme
The STEM Ambassadors Programme enables teachers to make links from the curriculum to how STEM is practised in the world of work, illuminating applications across a vast range of careers.
STEM Ambassadors are people from STEM backgrounds who volunteer as inspiring role models for young people. They can contribute to regular lessons or participate in extra-curricular activities such as STEM Clubs, Careers Days and visits. STEM Ambassadors open the door to a whole new world for young people, helping them to see STEM subjects and careers with a fresh perspective and engage their interest and imagination in new ways.
Dundee Science Centre Science Learning Institute runs this national scheme in the North East of Scotland. To find out more and sign up, see www.stemnet.org.uk or contact ambassadors@dundeesciencecentre.org.uk.
How can teachers find out more?
Come along to a FREE twilight session to find out how to get these enthusiastic, inspiring volunteers into your classroom.
Whether you would like someone to talk about their science career, help run a practical activity, give some insight into the life of a ‘real’ scientist, or help provide in-depth knowledge of a topic, STEM Ambassadors are keen to help.
STEM Ambassador networking events – Dundee and Aberdeen
These FREE informal events will give you the opportunity to discuss what support you would like, and find out what local STEM Ambassadors could offer to your school. These twilight sessions will begin with a buffet, and then we will help you get to know local Ambassadors and find out how they can help.
Upcoming networking event dates for 2012 will be announced shortly. Please do not hesitate to contact ambassadors@dundeesciencecentre.org.uk in the meantime.
