Inquiry resources

Use our blank cartoons to enhance speaking, listening, questioning and thinking skills in the classroom.

These cartoons are designed to be used on your interactive whiteboard, or to be printed for pupils to use in groups.

How to use these cartoons:

At the beginning of an inquiry activity, write the investigation question in the box provided.

Next, use the characters' blank speech bubbles as spaces to share ideas for three potential answers.  This gives your pupils the opportunity to freely suggest answers, without pressure or fear of personal failure.

Now you can begin your investigation on the basis of hypotheses and predictions you have made.

The cartoons are also good ways to start topical discussions, and talk about responsible citizenship.
