Planning a school visit

A trip away from school can be a wonderful experience for all involved.  Relationships are built between staff and pupils, and the memories last for years.  Moreover, pupils discover a new learning venue, meet interesting new people and enjoy an immersive science experience!

How to plan your group visit:

If you have not visited Dundee Science Centre before, call or visit to find out what we offer.  Teachers enjoy free familiarisation visits at all times, and can arrange to meet a member of the education team to discuss our programmes.

Decide on the workshop or show that you would like to experience during your visit – see the current selection here.

Decide on a few dates that would be suitable.

Call us on 01382 868609 or 228800.  We are more than happy to chat and advise you on what would be best for your visit.  Please also let us know of any particular access or differentiation requirements that we should be aware of.

If you require a written confirmation, let us know.  (We don’t send out written confirmations as standard).

The entire booking process takes place over the telephone: just one telephone call!

After you have spoken to us, you can download risk assessments and teachers’ notes from the website here.

Also see our Great Visit Guidelines to allow you to brief your class fully.

On the day

We have a bus lane for parking, and the bus driver is welcome to come in free of charge and can enjoy 10% off teas and filter coffees in our Infusion café, which Proudly Serves Starbucks coffee.

When you arrive at Sensation, come in to reception whilst the pupils remain on the bus, so that you can be met and briefed by a member of our team.  You will be told the times of activities, and we will look after everything else.  We have coat and bag storage, and we will support you at every stage of the visit.  Our team members are here to ensure you have an easy, educational visit.

Remember that teachers can get 10% off teas and filter coffees in our Infusion café, which Proudly Serves Starbucks coffee.  Just show your teacher identification.

Great Apes  - this summer, Sensation will be a hive of ape-themed activity and Fossils and Funny Bones will give youngsters the chance to dig for bones.
